The Center of the Sun

- Every two and a half minutes someone is sexually assaulted in America.
- 1 in 6 American women are victims of sexual assault and 1 in 33 men, and include all ages, races and ethnicities.
- About 44% of rape victims are under age 18, and 80% are under age 30
- Approximately 60% of all sexual assault victims do not report the crime.
- 98% of males who raped other males reported that they were heterosexual
- 38% of perpetrators are friends or acquaintances, 28% are intimates, 26% strangers, and 7% relatives.

These are just a few of the hard, dark facts about rape and sexual assault that are tackled in our first feature-length motion picture, The Center of the Sun (formerly known as The Twilight). The Center of the Sun was born from the short film Broken, expanding on the theme of spiritual and emotional survival through the unique journeys of three assault victims and a crisis counselor. Pivoting on a metropolitan rape crisis agency and its dedicated advocates, The Center of the Sun illuminates the internal struggles that victims and their loved ones must go through to reclaim their lives after such a horrible ordeal. With this film we will draw the attention of a large audience to the realities of sexual assault and crack its pervasive myths wide open.

This project has attracted the support of RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization, as well as Peace Over Violence, the largest and most well-known crisis agency in Los Angeles. In turn, Group Six Films will offer generous support to these important groups to aid in their mission to "prevent sexual assault, help victims, and ensure that rapists are brought to justice."
